Approach to therapy

I believe therapy should be a space that feels warm, respectful, and supportive. My approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and a commitment to helping clients better understand themselves, navigate challenges, and create meaningful change at a pace that feels right for them.

My focus

I specialize in working with those who embrace polyamory as an alternative lifestyle, individuals with a history of trauma struggling with anxiety, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. My services encompass individual therapy (for adolescents and adults), couples therapy, and family therapy, addressing grief and loss, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and the management of life stressors.

My communication style

I believe every individual seeking treatment has the resiliency and inherent strength to navigate our world. My job as a therapist is to help them find that strength, the belief that they can change their lives to be what they want despite their current or past struggles, stressors, or trauma. I combine talk therapy with homework assignments to move the individual's healing process forward to reach their goals.

Client Reflections

Working with Satya helped me become more honest and vulnerable with myself, reconnect with my inner child, and recognize how much resentment I had been carrying for years.  For the first time, I felt like I could tell my inner child that she doesn’t have to do everything alone and that it’s okay to let other people take care of her too.  I’ve learned how to slow down, breathe, and move through life feeling more grounded and hopeful.

Meet Satya

My name is Satya R. Montgomery, and I am an independently licensed clinical social worker with 27 years of experience in child and adult trauma.

I bring compassion, empathy, and a strong commitment to healing the mind and the entire person.  Often, we do not understand how our mind is the doorway to our emotions, how our body reacts, and how we function in daily life.  To truly heal, I believe a therapist must keep all three at the forefront of the care provided: mind, body, and soul.  That is where deeper understanding and growth can begin.

Let's start the discussion.
